Elk Velvet Composition

The chemical composition of elk antler velvet is highly complex, containing nearly 40 key compounds and 400 active ingredients. The ingredients of elk velvet work together to produce the best all-natural supplement found within the plant and animal kingdom. Elk velvet from tip to base is composed of:

53% Proteins
34% Minerals
10% Water
3% Lipids
13 Growth Factors
20 Glycosaminoglycans
21 Amino Acids

Moving from the base of the antler toward the tip: the protein, growth factor, and lipid content increases and the mineral and ash content decreases

The tips of the antler (last two inches of the top) and the upper portions are the richest sources of proteins, growth factors, and lipids. These sections are highly valued due to their high efficacy levels (absorption rate) and vast amounts of insulin growth factor (IGF-1).

The base and bottom of the antler are less effective and deficient than the other sections of the antler. Mineral and mineral ash content is high, 15% calcium and 40% ash. This porous section is not suitable for harvesting and should not be used in elk velvet supplements.
